Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO)
The Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO) is focused on investigating and building local capacities at the grassroots level. The organization focuses particularly on rural areas and on particularly vulnerable communities, including those who are internally displaced. SUDO believes that poverty is a root cause of conflict in Sudan and elsewhere and that NGOs and individuals have a role to play in addressing need.
SUDO aims to:
- Alleviate poverty and eradicate hunger,
- Provide for basic necessities,
- Protect the environment,
- Promote literacy and civic education, and
- Support sustainable development and peaceful resolution of conflict.
The Organization has nine offices throughout Sudan.
The Organization is currently working in development (providing services like water, health education), promotion of human rights (training, documentation and dissemination of information about violations, defending and protection) and emergency intervention (provision of shelter, water, sanitation and non-food-items).
