Mouvement Nigérien pour la défense et la promotion des droits de l'homme et des peuples (MNDHP)

MNDHP was founded in 1999 and works to promote human rights through public education and elections monitoring.

MNDHP has also worked to reintegrate those displaced within Niger, typically rural populations fleeing famine who come to live in the capital, Niamey. With the assistance of their partners, MNDHP works to obtain potable water, training in hygiene for these populations and to ensure that children in these communities have access to education.

In addition, MNDHP has attended and organized various seminars on a variety of themes, including the 1951 UN Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol, the 1969 Convention relating to the Specific Aspects of the Refugee Problem in Africa, the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, and the protection of refugees in situations of armed conflict. The organization has also begun to research the situation of Nigerien political refugees and asylum seekers in Belgium.

In relation to the situation in Darfur, MNDHP participates in a collective of organizations which has organized a number of events which aim to explore and explain the situation in Sudan. MNDHP is a member of the Union Interafricaine des Droits de l’Homme.
