Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR)

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights was founded in 1985. It is headquartered in Cairo, but has a national membership of 2,300 and 17 provincial branches. It works to ensure respect for international human rights standards in Egypt. It advocates that Egyptian legislation be brought into compliance with international standards, promotes the rule of law and the importance of an independent judiciary.

EOHR used to run a Refugee Legal Aid Project which is affiliated with the Forced Migration and Refugee Studies Centre at American University in Cairo. The program is, however now run under the auspices of AMERA-Egypt.

EOHR has participated in an Arab civil society statement on Darfur.
